Day 1: 10 Days Greece Private Tour departs from Athens your hotel/ apartment (or other terminal - up request) via Lamia. We will stop at Thermopylae (where in 480 B.C. a battle between the ancient Greeks and Persians took place)to visit Leonidas Monument and then on via Trikala (Magnificent town, short stop).
Day 2: 10 Days Greece private tour, drives through the mountains of Pindos to Vergina/Aegae, first capital of Macedonia. Aegae, the first ancient capital of the kingdom of Macedonia, spreads over the low hills on the northern slopes of' the Pierian range, between the modern villages of Palatitsia and Vergina. This city was the most important urban center in the region until the 4th c. BC. Continue to Mount. Olympus, the house of the gods. Geologist research has uncovered that Mt.Olympus is one of the most anciently formed mountains on Earth. Visit the first shelter in the mountains to get a view of the landscape, central Macedonia and Aegean Sea. Day 3: Leave for Volos and Pelion. The road continuous to climb towards Portaria with a view over Volos Bay. Portaria, 650m/2133ft. A pleasant resort in summer, cool and fresh, with a view up to Makrinitsa and down over Volos Bay, beautiful village square with superb plane trees (cafes, restaurants) and characteristic houses. From Portaria will take the road to Makrinitsa 700m/1297ft. The main square (platia) is especially attractive with its fountain and its plane trees. The road descends towards the Aegean through beech and chestnut woods before reaching the level of the orchards 13km/8mi from the pass bear left to Zagora (overnight in traditional mansion), this was an important centre of Greek culture under the Turks when the Pelion region enjoyed a certain autonomy. Zagora is a little town of houses set in orchards and gardens watered by many fountains. From Zagora a side road plunges downhill to Horefto, a fishing village with a long beach of fine sand.
Day 4: After Breakfast Greece private tour departs from Mount Pelion via the unique traditional villages to Delphi. We arrive late afternoon, and after lunch we will visit Museum. Further sightseeing of Delphi (Apollo Temple, Athenian Treasury, Stadium...), visit Castalia Spring, Gymnasium and the Sanctuary of Athena Pronaea. Overnight at Mount Parnassos
Day 5: Visit Greece tour takes the scenic coast road to Patra.Visit Galaxidi, a picturesque fish village ( short stop for a coffee) take the ferry from Antirio to Rio to admire the huge suspension bridge. Continue for Diakopto. Take the rack railway, taking you through the gorge of Vouraikos to Kalavryta, a fantasy scenery that is not to be missed. Kalavryta is one of the martyred villages in Greece that were destroyed in the Second World war.
Day 6: Early morning visit A school Museum.... Depart for Olympia through the Arcadian Mountains, one of the most unique roads in Greece...Olympia is located NW in Peloponnese (the cradle of the Olympic Games). Visit the Sanctuary of the Olympian Zeus, Gymnasion, Fidias workshop, Hera's temple, the famous Stadion and the Archaeological Museum, one of the best in Greece. Overnight in Olympia
Day 7: Depart for Kalamata. We take the road to Mount Taygetos, the largest and highest mountain in Peloponnese. Following a unique road which passes, through gorges, rivers, tunnels, plane trees, cypresses, olive trees, mulberries and orange trees we reach Mystras. We scan its innumerable peaks, precipitous slopes and deep gorges until our gaze suddenly rests on a hill, detached from the mountain range. On the naturally defended hill of Myzithras in Lacedaimon, the ruler of the Frankish Principate of Achaia Guillaume de Villehardouin built in 1249 a strong medieval castle the "Oriokastro" which was to play an important role in the history of the last centuries of the Byzantine empire. Next we visit the Acropolis of Sparta, which is open to travelers...Overnight near Sparta under the shadow of Mount Taygetos...
Day 8: We visit the Greek Olive oil museum and the archaeological museum at Sparta and continue to Tripolis and then to Nafplion (first capital city of Greece in modern time) the picturesque town nestling at the foot of a cliff crowned by the mighty ramparts of the Palamidi Fortress. We visit Archeological museum, Palamidi castle, Acronafplia. Time for shopping in Nafplion, where you will find many traditional shops and boutiques or enjoy a swim in the crystal waters under the castle.
Day 9: Visit Greece private tour drives in the hinterland of Epidavros to visit the sanctuary of Asklepios, the most brilliant center of healing in the ancient world and the theater (4th century B.C. ) one of the most perfect and the best preserved of the ancient Greek theaters. Visit Mycenae, the Homeric city of the Atreides, the city " rich in gold " of the ancient poets. Visit the Lions Gate, the Cyclopean Walls, the famous Royal Tombs of King Agamemnon. Return to Nafplion, explore the Akronafplia castle which dates from 1500 bc.
Day 10: Visit Greece 10 days private tour returns to Athens via Nemea (41 km. from Corinth) is close to the limits of the state of Argolida. This municipality is surrounded by an abundance of grapevines, which have given Nemea fame for the good wine they produce. Even in ancient times Nemea was renowned as being the place in Greek Mythology where Hercules killed the fearful lion. In the ancient site of Nemea the most notable building is the temple of Zeus ( 40c BC), The archaeological digs (which are still going on ) have brought to light baths and arenas, a stadium and foundations of other buildings. Continue for Ancient Corinth. It was from one of the richest cities and this is quite evident by its remains, including the huge Agora (market place) and Apollo's Temple (6th c . B .C.) Next we reach the Corinth canal with its breathtaking views (short stop / on the bridge, which is the highest point of the canal -80 meters high and 6 kms long- which connects the Aegean Sea to the Ionian Sea (short photo stop).
